Why Isn't Cardinal Georger in Prison? No Brainer!! Priest
gets 5 years for molesting boys Associated Press Posted
Tuesday, July 03, 2007 A Chicago priest accused of fondling young boys pleaded guilty Monday to five
counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and was immediately sentenced to serve five years in prison. The Rev. Daniel McCormack, 38, was accused of abusing five boys between the ages of 8 and 12 in the rectory of
St. Agatha Catholic Church, where he served as parish priest.
The Archdiocese of Chicago drew intense
criticism over its handling of the case. McCormack was not removed from the West Side parish and school until he first was
charged in January 2006 — several months after one of the allegations was made against him. Cardinal
Francis George conceded he failed to act quickly enough and launched an eight-month internal church investigation that found
that procedures for removing priests from the ministry are “far from perfect.”
McCormack
was not charged or removed as pastor until after the school’s principal, Barbara Westrick, informed police, the archdiocese
and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services of allegations one boy made to her in January 2006. Westrick learned last month that the archdiocese would not renew her contract. judge ruled Monday that confidential personnel files on Roman Catholic clergy accused of molesting children can be made public
even if the clerics were never charged with a crime and legal claims against them were not proven. "The rights
of privacy must give way to the state's interest in protecting its children from sexual abuse," Los Angeles County

I can only hope that other judges, DA's

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 sick vs evil Sickness is a condition. Evil is a behavior. Evil is always a matter of choice. Evil is not thought; it is conduct. And that conduct
is always volitional. And just as evil is always a choice, sickness is always the absence of choice. Sickness happens.
Evil is inflicted. Until we perceive the difference clearly, we will continue to give aid and comfort to our most
pernicious enemies. We, as a society, decide whether something is sick or evil. Either decision confers an obligation upon
us. Sickness should be treated. Evil must be fought. By Andrew Vachss Originally published in Parade, July

In the wake of revelations that he is the father of a three-year-old
girl, the popular pastor of a parish in Valle d’Aosta in Northern Italy, where both John Paul II and Benedict XVI have
spent their summer vacations, will take a year-long sabbatical to reflect on his future as a Catholic priest.

Saturday, June 2, 2007 ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE EFFECT OF CATHOLIC GUILT
Today, I had a heartbreaking conversation with a Catholic colleague regarding artificial contraception. The
discussion began with me mentioning that I have five children. Her response was, "You are a brave woman."
I replied, "It has nothing to do with bravery, I didn't have a choice. I was practicing the teachings of the
Catholic Church." As the dialogue continued she proceeded to tell me that her daughter had become an unwed mother
at a very early age. Because of the intense guilt, she was overcome with debilitating depression and has struggled with
her mental health ever since the preganancy 13 yrs. ago. She went on to explain her position on artificial
contraception. Her voice dropped and softened. "I wouldn't ever tell my daughter...I don't want
to loose my daughter again." She hesitated, then said, "She could never have another baby, she would
have post-depression... " It ended. I was once again left with an overwhelmingly feeling of anguish.
The ripple effect that the Church's teachings has on people is so intensely crippling. One can only hope and pray
that our Creator allows changes within the Catholic Church so as to stop all of this unnecessary suffering brought upon by
the Catholic Church. 12:19 am edt

Sunday, May 20, 2007 New Life My family and I went to
a wedding last night of a former Catholic priest and a mutual friend, who has had unimaginable hardships in recent years.
Last night they were both glowing. I am so happy he got out of the priesthood while he still had his sanity. It
was beautiful to witness a blessed new beginning. They both have been through so much to be at where they are now -
they deserve all the happiness that awaits them in their new life together. They are a testament to -when you have been
to hell and back, a person can create a new life for themselves and enjoy life once again. 7:04 pm edt

Thursday, May 10, 2007 Answering Tough questions = educating In
order to make a difference, in order to educate and ultimately make positive change, we can't continue to "preach
to the choir", we need to be ready to answer the tough questions in order to get our message across and if that means
reliving some of the trauma we endured then that is what we will need to do. It will take baby steps to make a difference
but we need to keep chipping away. 10:38 pm edt
